SPECIAL NOTE: In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, all inpatient admissions must first meet criteria for inpatient psychiatric level of care as determined by a crisis screening evaluation. The hospital's inpatient programs continue to serve individuals on a case-by-case basis who present with a secondary substance use disorder (SUD) diagnosis requiring medically managed detoxification from alcohol, prescription drugs, and other potentially dangerous or addictive substances.

Admissions at a Glance
The Brattleboro Retreat will honor the rights of patients and their families including guardians or others who have a significant relationship with the patient. The patient's right to treatment or services is respected and supported.
Insurance & Payment Information
The Brattleboro Retreat, the Anna Marsh Clinic, and the other programs of the Brattleboro Retreat contract with more than 100 national and regional insurance companies, and are able to accept most commercial and managed care payers, as well as Medicare, and some Medicaid programs. Brattleboro Retreat staff members collaborate with patients and families to manage insurance and re-authorization requirements, and to arrange reasonable self-payment plans, if necessary.
