He is also an accomplished carpenter and part-time assistant park ranger at Woodford State Park. Ryan has been invaluable to the USP in bringing his knowledge of the local terrain and expertise in fly-fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, and hiking to facilitate outdoor wellness activities that are central to our treatment approach.

Ryan developed his love of the outdoors growing up in central New York between the Allegheny National Forest and the Adirondack Mountains; he’s been fishing and hiking since he was five-years-old. He explains, “Being in the outdoors is what’s kept me balanced through the hardest times in my life. I love being able to give this experience to others.”

Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Southern Vermont College and is currently working toward his LADC certification. He is passionate about helping people engage therapeutically with nature to facilitate the recovery process.
