Doctoral Psychology Intern

Arianna Shimits, MA, CMPC, is a doctoral psychology intern at the Brattleboro Retreat and a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at Springfield College. She earned her BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and her MA in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver. 

Arianna Shimits brings extensive experience working with adults across various clinical settings, including partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, outpatient clinics, and college counseling centers. She has provided individual and group therapy to clients presenting with a range of clinical concerns, such as mood disorders, trauma disorders, anxiety disorders, eating and feeding disorders, suicidality, and self-harm. Arianna Shimits has facilitated groups utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and integrative, incorporating elements of ACT, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.
