How will I know that my online application has been received?

You will receive an auto response email confirming receipt.

Should I email, fax, or mail my resume if I have already applied online?

None of the above. Resumes and cover letters can be attached you your online application.

Can I apply for more than one position at at time?

Yes, as long as you meet the minimum qualifications you may apply for up to two positions at once. The position you list first will be given priority.

I do not see a position I am interested in at this time. Can I apply anyway without selecting a specific position?

Yes, you may submit a general application.

How often are positions updated online?

Job postings are updated on a weekly basis.

Should I include all of my previously held positions/jobs in my application?

Yes. Please provide a full work history to ensure a proper evaluation of your experience, background and credentials.

How often are online applications reviewed?

The Human Resources team reviews applications each business day. After submitting your application you can check your status by logging in to the online application system and clicking on the link "application history." This feature will allow you to see where your application is in the recruitment process.

Will Human Resources contact me regarding my application status?

The Retreat's HR team is unable to personally advise every applicant about the status of her/his application. The names of applicants whose skills best meet the requirements of a given position will be forwarded to the appropriate hiring manager who will further assess each candidate's qualifications and arrange for interviews. Applicants who are not selected for interviews will receive an electronic letter thanking them for their interest in working at the Brattleboro Retreat.

How will I know if a job has been filled?

Positions are removed from the list of postings as they are filled.

How long does the hiring process take? Who makes the final decision?

The length of the hiring process varies. Once your application has been screened by HR it may be forwarded to the hiring manager for his/her consideration. Each unit/program/department has its own process that may include several face-to-face interviews. The final decision is made by the hiring manager. Staff members in HR will then proceed with the formal job offer process.

What happens to my application once a position I’ve applied for is filled?

Applications are kept on file indefinitely. If your skills match another position, then we encourage you to reapply.

How do I know if I am qualified for a particular position?

The minimum requirements for each position are included in the job listing.

If my contact information changes, should I submit a new application?

No. Instead, please contact the the Retreat's Human Resources office (802) 258-6163 and we will make the necessary change(s) to your submitted application.

Can I edit a current application?

No. Once you have submitted your application, you cannot modify it. You can edit your application when you apply for a new position.

What does the minimum salary mean, and where will I fall in the salary range?

The minimum salary represents the starting pay rate/salary of the position. Each individual’s pay rate is calculated based on factors including experience and education.
