Starting Now is an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP) that provides addiction treatment, substance abuse counseling, and outpatient early recovery and relapse prevention groups.
What to Expect
Our treatment philosophy at Starting Now is patient-centered, and evidence-based. We assist patients in locating community-based, peer recovery resources including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, SMART Recovery (self-management and recovery training) combined with:
- group and individual therapy
- evidence-based treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- experiential activities.
Our approach is designed to help you establish abstinence from alcohol and other drugs and to improve the quality of your life and your relationships while building the skills you need to maintain a strong recovery. We also help people access community-based peer recovery supports such as Turning Point.
Starting Now offers a variety of services to help you answer your questions about substance abuse and addiction, and to help you, or someone you love, manage an addictive illness.
When you participate in Starting Now's Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) program you are able to live at home and continue with your work, family, and other responsibilities. As its name indicates, IOP is an intensive and highly-supportive level of outpatient care.
Individuals have the opportunity to explore what it means to create a lifestyle of recovery while simultaneously engaging in treatment during a time of great change.
Starting Now offers both morning and evening programs to accommodate your individual needs. The structure and time commitment of the two programs vary slightly.
The Morning IOP Program: The Starting Now Morning IOP runs from 9:15 AM - 12:15 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday for approximately five weeks or 20 sessions.
The Evening IOP Program: The Starting Now Evening IOP runs from 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for approximately six weeks or 18 sessions.
NOTE: The time you spend in either program may vary according to your needs. On Mondays and Fridays, we also offer separate educational groups within the morning IOP for mature adults.
If you have been referred to Starting Now by an employer or by the courts and are not an appropriate candidate for our Intensive Outpatient Program, then individual outpatient counseling may be recommended.
Treatment will focus on your individual needs as they relate to your use of alcohol or other drugs.
Starting Now offers twice-weekly early recovery groups and once-weekly relapse prevention groups for people who have already received primary drug and alcohol addiction treatment and are looking for support in maintaining their recovery in a therapeutic setting. The goal of Starting Now's outpatient program is to help you return to full and healthy functioning physically, mentally and socially.
Skills learned in Starting Now's outpatient groups include:
- learning to recognize and manage relapse warning signs
- developing thought patterns that support sober living
- establishing daily structure and engaging in an exercise and healthy diet plan
- cultivating a social network that will enhance your recovery.
