Dr. Mark McGee joined the Retreat as a staff psychiatrist in July 2012 and served for three years as unit chief of the Retreat's Adult Inpatient Program for general psychiatry while also treating patients on the Retreat’s Adult Intensive Unit. In early 2016 he changed roles to become Medical Director of the Anna Marsh Behavioral Care Clinic. In July 2016, Dr. McGee accepted the position as Medical Director for Adult Inpatient Services.
In February 2017 Dr. McGee was named Chief Medical Officer at the Brattleboro Retreat.
Dr. McGee's undergraduate studies in Religion and Philosophy at the University of Vermont were followed by graduate study in Counseling Psychology at Lesley College in Cambridge, MA.
After working as a psychotherapist for several years, Dr. McGee went on to complete his medical education at the University of Vermont and completed residency training in psychiatry at Fletcher Allen in Burlington, VT, serving as chief resident from 2011-2012.
In 2013 he became board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry.
