Adolescent Residential Program

Our Adolescent Residential ProgAdolescent Girl with Basketballram offers age-appropriate
care in a dorm-like setting that includes both an all-girls floor and a separate co-ed floor. If your child is between the ages of 14 and 18 and is struggling with behaviors and symptoms that have made it hard to function well at home, in school and in the community, we can help.

Helping your adolescent work toward rejoining his or her community as a healthy, successful member is our primary goal.

Who is Appropriate for Adolescent Residential Care?

The young people in our program may be struggling with a variety of psychiatric and behavioral issues including:

  • Self-harming behaviors
  • Co-occurring disorders
  • Depression, bipolar and other mood disorders
  • Oppositional defiant disorders (tantrums, arguing, and angry or disruptive behaviors)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Assessment & Evaluation

We provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment and evaluation that involves your child, your family, and community providers or case managers. The results will help us design an individualized treatment plan for your child that that can be modified as your child’s emotional and behavioral needs change.

We begin each adolescent’s discharge plan immediately upon admission. Your child will also be assessed regularly to ensure he or she is receiving the appropriate level of care. The Brattleboro Retreat’s Adolescent Residential program is designed to accommodate your adolescent’s individual needs, no matter how short or long their stay.
