EMS World Features Retreat's Uniformed Service Program

(December 28, 2011) Since we opened our Uniformed Service Program (USP) in August 2009 we have helped hundreds people from the civilian and military services overcome duty-related PTSD and the problems that often accompany PTSD such as drug and alcohol dependence, depression and domestic violence. In fact, approximately one third of the individuals who have gone through our USP treatment program have come from the emergency medical services (EMS).

That's why we are so excited to have been featured in EMS World, a large national trade magazine. Featured in the article are Medical Director Jennifer Fyler, MD, and Barbra Southworth, RN, who offer their unique perspectives on the issues that affect first responders and the importance of reaching out to get the kind of specialized help offered at the Brattleboro Retreat.
