Nels Kloster, MD

Nels Kloster, MD, joined the Brattleboro Retreat in November 2007 as medical director for the hospital's inpatient adult co-occurring disorders program. Prior to coming to Brattleboro, Kloster worked for Washington County Mental Health Services, a community mental health center in Montpelier, Vermont.

Raised in Alexandria, VA, Dr. Kloster earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington. He also completed his residency there through Fletcher Allen Health Care. While at Washington County, Dr. Kloster was active hosting roundtable discussions on Suboxone with central Vermont healthcare providers and spent a good deal of time providing consultations for  primary care physicians—a service he has continued here in southern Vermont.
